Abstract: 

In this paper, some recent advances and a few novel concepts are presented for motion control of highrise building and bridge structures under dynamic wind and earthquake loading. Recent research performed by the authors in the areas of smart structures, hybrid control, tuned liquid column damper, and wavelets is reviewed.

Abstract: 

This study evaluates seismic reliability of RC framed Buildings with two different lateral load resisting systems. Four example Buildings with different heights and different lateral load resisting systems are analyzed through incremental dynamic analysis under two sets of ordinary and near-fault records. A vector-valued intensity measure is used for reliability evaluation. The results of case studies show that in near-fault ground motions there is a slight difference between seismic reliability of MRF and dual systems, particularly for highrise Buildings. In contrast, adding shear walls improves seismic reliability of both of lowrise and High-Rise Buildings in ordinary ground motions.

Abstract: 

The High-Rise building has been on the agenda of urban policymakers following the growing growthof large cities in recent years and the issue of housing shortages and efficient land use. Due to their tall stature and the number of residents, these Buildings have a great impact on the performance of cities, therefore, in order to prevent their negative effects on the quality of life and satisfaction of the residents of these Buildings, the location of these Buildings is especially important for cities. The aim of this study is to analyze the factors influencing the satisfaction of residents of High-Rise Buildings that exist in the city because the measurement rate is a good guide for city managers so that if in the future High-Rise building is selected as one of the strategic policies in land use. Considering the results and findings of this research, a suitable solution should be planned for this purpose. The study area of this research is the city of Gorgan and the existing High-Rise Buildings above20meters or seven floors are based on the comprehensive plan of the city. The research method of this study is documentary studies, survey method and questionnaire distribution. The researcher-made questionnaire included322questionnaires distributed among citizens and after collecting information, its reliability was reduced by97%using Cochran's method using Cronbach's alpha, statistical analysis was performed inferentially and descriptively in SPSS software environment and the study results showed that there are the significant relationship between Access and satisfaction levels of citizens living in High-Rise Buildings. The results of the hypothesis test show in both hypotheses that due to the inadequate access of the residents of High-Rise Buildings and the decrease in the quality of services, their level of satisfaction decreases and the residents of High-Rise Buildings are not satisfied with the current situation.

Abstract: 

Given the increasing growth of urban population, limitation of land and services, also, increasing demand for housing, economic and environmental limitations; High-Rise building is a proper solution to control the physical growth of cities. Therefore, identification of suitable zones for construction of High-Rise Buildings is essential, and of great importance for the proper growth of the city. The aim of this study is to determine the appropriate zones with high potential for the construction of High-Rise Buildings in the city of Ardabil. In this study, the MCDM methods, including VIKOR and ANP, also 19 subcriteria of 4 main criteria, were used to determine the suitable zones. We benefited EXCEL, GIS, and SELVA IDRISI softwares for data analyzing. Research findings suggest that the east, west and north-east zones of the city, have more potential for High-Rise building construction. So that highrise construction in these zones can lead to proper distribution of construction and population in the city. In conclusion, appropriate zones for the establishment of the High-Rise Buildings in Ardabiil city, are suggested.

Abstract: 

Access to the appropriate quality and quantity of water is very important during the building life cycle and various stages of construction and operation. The fundamental importance of water is evident from the fact that two of the 17 sustainable development goals are directly related to water. Hot and dry climatic conditions, low rainfall and high evaporation, improper use of limited water resources, and pollution of quantitative and qualitative water crises have been determined on different scales in Iran. A large part of water loss occurs at the building scale (residential, commercial, and official). Therefore, in many parts of the country, especially in arid and semi-arid regions, it's inevitable the need to adopt strategies for the optimal use of water resources in the construction sector. The present study investigates the use of alternative water resources, water resources recovery methods to achieve net-zero water Buildings, focusing on methods of reducing water consumption at the building scale. The research method is descriptive-analytical with a qualitative study. The data collection tool is a review of written sources, documents, and previous studies, and the method of data analysis is content analysis. Findings indicate that the creation and utilization of a sustainable water cycle in the building through rainwater harvesting systems, gray water collection and treatment systems as alternative water sources, collection, and treatment of black water to charge aquifers, or injection into water supply sources can provide a platform for the realization of the net-zero Buildings.

Abstract: 

In recent years, seismic design of structures has been undergoing significant changes as a result of increasing demand for optimization and minimizing the level of damage and reducing the cost of structural repairs, the development of analytical methods and the remarkable improvements of computer performance have been among the factors which influenced the design of structures. A lot of research has been conducted on the development of better braces with perfect elastoplastic behavior. The inventions and development of buckling restrained braces have been the results of these researches. In this study, the performance of Buckling Restrained Environmental Braces (BRB) in highrise Buildings were evaluated applying nonlinear time-history dynamics analysis with three pairs of acceleration and compared with conventional concentrically braced frame (CBF). The studied structures are 20, 40, and 60 stories building which braces were utilized peripherally. The acquired results reveal that the application of Buckling Restrained Brace Frames (BRB) instead of conventional braces frame (CBF) in High-Rise steel Buildings ameliorates hysteresis behavior of the braces and reduces lateral displacements and increase the capacity of base shear as well.

Fires are caused many civilian deaths and injuries, and property damage per year. Over 95 percent of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. This report includes a fire at the Plasco building, one of the highrise Buildings in Tehran. Corrosion in electrical wiring, to be a lot of gas cylinder and flammable liquids and the accumulation of clothes in building corridors were The causes of the fires and spread of them. Bending deflection, the loss of resistance of columns and steel beams and collapse of the building can be attributed to excessive thermal.The challenges of emergency management on the scene of fires, unclear incident commander in the initial moments of fires, overcrowding and notification-related matters can be considered as the problems of Plasco building fires.
